New collaboration will offer easy “DDP-out-of-a-box” solution to enhance the checkout and delivery experience for ecommerce merchants shipping from North America
PALO ALTO, August 8, 2024 – Passport, an internationalization provider that helps brands more easily go global, today announced its new partnership with Flexport, a leader in global supply chain technology. This partnership will allow Passport to expand its international shipping and customs clearance options for Flexport’s clients who are fulfilling direct-to-consumer orders from the United States. This will help Flexport merchants sell in 180+ countries with new, affordable options for international shipping.
By providing brands with a turnkey Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) delivery option, where consumers pay duties and taxes at checkout, Passport allows brands to pre-pay import duties before the package crosses the border. This enables a faster, easier experience for Flexport customers.
“We share a strong ethos with Flexport in enabling and empowering merchants to expand their international revenue potential. Through our partnership, Passport provides Flexport merchants with access to a robust DDP program and localization tools, facilitating seamless entry and growth in target markets worldwide,” said Chris Ziomek, VP of Sales at Passport.
While upfront costs may be higher for the consumer with duties and taxes collected as part of a landed cost at checkout, shipping DDP helps provide more pricing visibility–reducing cart abandonment–while also streamlining the compliance process for the seller. The benefit to the consumer is the elimination of hidden fees for a shopping experience they can trust, with the brand enjoying a simpler, more controlled customs experience.
“Flexport’s mission is to make global commerce so easy there will be more of it. Partnering with Passport allows us to expand our international shipping and customs capabilities through the Flexport Seller Portal, meaning customers of all sizes can grow their global footprint. It’s clear that our customers want more options to grow their business including fulfilling into other countries from the U.S., this is just one more step we’re taking to truly allow customers to ship anywhere and sell everywhere,” said Alex Berry, VP of Omnichannel and Fulfillment at Flexport.
In addition to its domestic and international parcel offerings, Flexport also offers end-to-end logistics solutions including international ocean and air freight, customs brokerage, trade advisory, domestic trucking, storage, prep, direct-to-consumer fulfillment, B2B retailer fulfillment, replenishment, and returns. Flexport makes it easy for businesses to unify and simplify their supply chain through its groundbreaking technology that provides visibility and control to move their goods from factory floor to customer door. The partnership between Flexport and Passport makes it easier for brands to get products to customers outside of the US, allowing brands to scale in new geographic markets.
This announcement builds on Passport’s efforts to partner with leading supply chain technology and logistics companies in order to disrupt the global commerce space. Additional partnerships include EasyPost, Loop Returns, ProShip, Corso and more.
